Welcome To Memories Thrift Store
Our Mission
To support the Richmond Women's Resource Centre and Alzheimer society of B.C., while providing quality used goods to the community in an earth-friendly manner.
About Us
Memories Thrift Store was opened in 2005 under the name "Memory Lane" as an independent for-profit store benefiting the Alzheimer Society of BC. In May, 2008 Tammy Lindahl and Martha Juillerat purchased the store, became co-managers and converted it into a non-profit society to ensure that all future profits would benefit charity. In recognition of their new status and mission, they then changed the name to "Memories Thrift Store. In early 2009 they welcomed the Richmond Women's Resource Centre as our second partner. (See information about our Partners below.) In May 2010 Debbie Vincent became the new manager, returning it to a for-profit store and will continue to carry on Tammy and Marth's vision, who have truely transformed the shop into the The best little thrift shop in Richmond!
In addition to our two major partners, Memories supports many other charities through financial and in-kind donations.
RICHMOND WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTRE RWRC’s mission is “to provide a supportive environment in which all women are encouraged and enabled to achieve their fullest potential.” To this end, the RWRC’s services include the Canadian Work Experience Program for Immigrant Women, battered women support services, income tax preparation for low income families, computer and internet access and one-one-one computer training, ESL English conversation, French speaking women’s group, “Hot Ink” creative writing for teens, walking for fitness, and a wide range of seminars and workshops. Along with these programs, volunteers from RWRC have advocated with government and community agencies to create emergency shelter for homeless women, transitional housing for battered women, local child care, and legislation towards ending poverty in Richmond.
ALZHEIMER SOCIETY OF B.C. The ASBC provides support services and education programs locally and provincially, and is connected nationally to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. These three levels work together to form a nationwide network of services to help Canadians who are affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. www.alzheimerbc.org
The Alzheimer Society of B.C. is a non-profit organization with a Provincial Office and Resource Centres located throughout the province.
